Guided walking, camping and bush adventures at Island Hills Station
- Duration: 3 Days (approx.)
- Location: Island Hills, Canterbury
Immerse yourself in rugged mountain scenery, beautiful forests and low input farm landscapes alongside an expert local guide. The guide will offer multiple options and cater the challenges to suit your wishes and capability levels, from relaxing bush trails to hard out, off track alpine cross overs with some of most amazing scenery in the region. A popular option is to walk the trails through the forest areas to help check and re-bait the pest control traps, learning about how we protect the native plants and wildlife in our private conservation reserve. Meet the local birds and farm animals and perhaps even spot a wild deer or pig. Relax in the isolated cosy cabins with heating, lighting, kitchen, hot showers, individual bunk beds and plenty of privacy. Get really adventurous and camp out in the wilderness in tents, to make the most of the sun rises and sunsets from higher altitude camping sites. The guided experiences are fully catered including local produce and even “wild foods” which we source from the farm itself.
