ITINEARY
Day 1
You have the option of meeting us at Mt Cook Village this morning, or an early pickup from Queenstown, with travel to Mt Cook included in the workshop. After assembling at the Hermitage Hotel, our home for the next two nights, we will head out to explore locations in the park for the rest of the day. There will be plenty of time to cover settings for advancing your landscape photography, before heading out for an evening shoot in the Tasman Valley.
Day 2
The day begins with the option for some pre-dawn astrophotography before heading back to the hotel for breakfast. The rest of the day will be taken up alternating between locations in the park. We will capture the panoramic views of the Tasman and Hooker valleys, including alpine lakes, sweeping river vistas and the beautiful alpine flowers. (depending on the season). All the locations we visit are within easy walks along well-graded tracks on the valley floors. For those wishing for a more adventurous full day hike today, we have the option to take an uphill climb to a high viewpoint in the park, to capture vistas of New Zealand’s highest peaks, glaciated valleys and alpine tarns.
Day 3
After a sunrise shoot to capture the first alpine glow on the summit of Mt Cook, we have the option to venture further afield to explore more of the beautiful Mackenzie Country. Should the weather allow, if you are wishing to do some aerial photography, there will be an opportunity to take a flight over Mt Cook.
