Start your Evening Glowworm tour nestled amongst the trees at Lake McLaren Falls Park.
Appreciate delicious refreshments while watching the sun set over the rolling hills. At dusk our guides will lead you into the calm waters to discover the magic of the enchanting Glowworm canyon.
While you can see Glowworms elsewhere in New Zealand and you can paddle a sea kayak in many places around the world, this is the only place when the two combine for a magical & truly unique experience. A narrow, high-sided canyon at the head of the lake is the home to thousands of glow worms. To ensure their luminescence, our tour departs once day before sunset so by the time we get to the glow worm canyon it’s completely dark. The tour is led by our professional guides providing a fascinating & informative brief about thelife cycle and peculiarities of the New Zealand fungus gnat. The tour is suitable for ages 8 and above with no kayaking experience required.
